DESCRIPTION:Hoorah! We love this gig and the people. A lovely Oxfordshire pub in the lovely Oxfordshire village of East Hagbourne. This gig is me and Sally doing our original songs and having a nice time. We hope you will too!  \nAnna Ryder and Sally Barker met in the middle of a field in the village of Cropredy.  They were introduced by bass player and friend of the stars\, Fairport\nConvention’s Dave Pegg on the occasion of their annual folk rock festival. Both Anna and Sally have mixed with the stars\, Sally with supports to Tom Jones\,\nRobert Plant and Bob Dylan and Anna working with Fairport\, Eddi Reader and Julianne Regan. \nSally and Anna collaborate in the trio IOTA and the Sandy Denny Project but decided also to record and tour as a duo. To that end they have released\n“WHEN I WAKE UP” a record that explores themes of love\, nature\, Gannets on Alderney\, football\, sea nymphs\, St Luke and imagery from fact and fiction.\nThere is a nakedness coupled with a simplicity that is refreshingly honest in these recordings. \n“WHEN I WAKE UP” sounds old-fashioned in a good way and hosts a collection of words and musical shapes that paint personal colours with voices\nthat swirl and swoop in a wonderful interplay of expression. Anna and Sally’s songs bounce off each other like the bubbles a child blows as they bump then\nfoat calmly through the air until they gently pop. \nBoth Sally and Anna have guested with and supported Fairport Convention on their Wintour – annA in 1999 and Sally in 2017. \n
