2003 Paper Girl
During this year I made my new album Paper Girl mostly down in the depths of Devon at Mark Tucker’s Ibiza Studios situated in a sort of shed overlooking a beautiful valley.
This was an album I really needed to make and it was really exciting driving home up the M5 at the end of a week listening to the results.
I had a few people playing on this album including Dave Pegg, Simon Nicol and Gerry Conway from Fairport but also Maartin Allcock, Clive Bunker and John ‘Rabbit’ Bundrick keyboard player with The Who. I had met Rabbit when playing at Cropredy years before and he’d offered to play some keyboards fro me so I phoned him up and he loved the songs so he did it.
I was too busy making the album to make a diary but I managed a couple of snaps and cartoons….
This is me playing Phil Johnstone’s grand piano. His studio was situated next to a shed for restoring boats so everything was covered in sawdust.
Mark Tucker in his cramped studio.
Me at Rabbit’s house – I got to see some really historic instruments including a keyboard he played for Jimmy Hendrix.
